Valentines Treats for Dogs: ‘Puppy Hugs + Kisses’ Dog Cookies Recipe

INGREDIENTS
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 250g plain organic yoghurt or carob drops

How To Make ‘Hugs & Kisses’ Homemade Dog Treats

COOKIES

1. Get two large bowls. In one bowl combine the water, olive oil, molasses and honey. In the second bowl combine the flour, and cinnamon.
2. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet. Mix until all are combined.
3. Divide the dough into two, wrap and refrigerate for minimum 3.5 hours.
4. Once chilled, remove dough from fridge and roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness (less than a centimetre).
5. Pre-heat oven to 180 C (350 F). Line 2 flat cookie trays with baking paper.
6. Use your X and O Cookie Cutters to cut out the treats. Place on baking tray. Bake for 10-15 minutes.

ICING

1. Place yoghurt or carob drops in a heat safe bowl. Melt the drops over boiling water, stirring constantly.
2. Dip the treats into the melted drops and allow to cool before serving.

Handy Hints

* Makes approximately 80 small dog treats, depending on the size of your cookie cutters.
* Why not package your homemade dog cookies in our DIY dog treat jars for a sweet extra touch?
* Store in an airtight container and consume within the week.

    My dog adored it! Thanks for the ADORABLE idea! I tried playing noughts and crosses before she ate it, but when it was her go she practically inhaled the food!

    Bonjour à tous,Déjà que d’après l’INSEE plus de 90% des auto-entrepreneurs gagnent moins que le Smic et que plus de la moitié ont besoin des revenues de cette activité, j’ai un peur pour la suite.Maintenant, essayons de rester optimiste… je souhaite ajouter que sans ce statut des centaines d’entreprises qui ont embauché n’aurait jamais vu le jour !

    Hi Amber! I’m no yoga guru but I’ve also heard about its many benefits to the body and mind. Not only does it tone the muscles but it opens up the respiratory and vascular system with its deep breathing exercises, and probably affects the parasympathetic nervous system with its calming stretches. If it can? lower blood pressure in people who don’t wear corsets, I don’t see why it wouldn’t lower pressure in corset wearers! Interesting point!
