The series, which is currently in its second season, has everything you could want in a fantasy narrative.

Based on two series of books by Leigh Bardugo (the Shadow and Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows duology) the story follows Alina Starkov, an orphan mapmaker who discovers she has the power to summon light.

Jessie Mei Li

As the show’s star, fans are very interested in Mei Li’s romantic relationships. While some fans hold out hope that Mei Li and co-star Ben Barnes are secretly dating (especially since a very flirtatious moment between the two was caught in a video posted to Instagram) it looks like Mei Li is currently single.

As this stage, all that we know about Mei Li’s love life is that the star identifies as queer, as confirmed in the Evening Standard.

“Nowadays you mention someone being non-binary or gender fluid and people have a better understanding”, Mei Li told the publication.

“I’ve noticed with friends and family too, because they’re seeing more representation, people are much better at just accepting things. Representation matters a lot because TV is how a lot of people see the world if they don’t get around much.”

Archie Renaux

Archie Renaux, who plays Mal in the show, has been dating his girlfriend Annie for at least three years.

While the actor often shares photographs of his girlfriend on his Instagram, he also often removes older photographs, so we can’t be sure when it comes to the date these two started dating.

What we do know, is that the couple share a young daughter called Iris. Iris was born in 2020.

Ben Barnes

Ben Barnes’ dating life has been a hot topic ever since the actor starred in The Chronicles Of Narnia.

Barnes however, has managed to keep his dating life very private.

The actor was most recently linked to Julianne Hough after the pair were spotted enjoying an ice cream in Los Angeles by E! Online.

These rumours were squashed after a source told the publication that the stars “have been friends for eight years” and there was “nothing more” to the relationship.

Freddy Carter

Freddy Carter is married to Caroline Ford, who is also an actor and currently stars in Prime’s Carnival Row.

The couple met on the set of Netflix’s Free Reign in 2017, before tying the knot in December 2022.

Amita Suman

Amita Suman currently appears to be single, however the star’s tendency to keep her love life private means that we probably wouldn’t know if there was a special someone on the scene.

In the past, Suman has been romantically linked (mainly through celebrity gossip sites to Johnny Thackway, a British model and fitness instructor.

The lack of photographs of Thackway on Suman’s Instagram which could suggest they’re no longer together.

Patrick Gibson

Patrick Gibson’s last known relationship was with model Joanna Kutcha.

The couple made public appearances between 2017 and 2019, with Gibson posting the last picture of the couple to his Instagram in December 2020.

Danielle Galligan

Anna Leong Brophy joined the cast of Shadow and Bone for season two in the role of Tamar.

By the looks of Brophy’s social media, the actor appears to currently be single and doesn’t have many details about her previous relationships online.

The actor has however, recently moved into a new home with her beloved pets, telling Country and Townhouse: “I’ve just moved in, and I’m really enjoying putting it all together and making it like a little cosy nest for when I get to escape. So the time is perfect right now— I can get everything as I would like it, and hopefully it will be set for when that time comes back around. I’m just hanging out with my cats at the moment. Just hanging out with my cats, and painting.”

Lewis Tan

To the delight of many fans, Lewis Tan appears to currently be single.

The actor has previously been romantically linked to model Emi Renata Sakamoto, who has joined him for red carpets and featured on his Instagram.
