5/27/2023 - I only get these books for my daughter for the sensory aspect and she enjoys them. I do not think they offer enough variety in textures.

These Usborne "Touchy-Feely" books by Fiona Watt are great for little ones in so many ways.
First, each book has six textures to experience. Second, each texture is described with an adjective such as "fluffy", "rough", "woolly", "shiny", "fuzzy", "soft", and so forth. These words will enlarge the vocabulary of little ones, not to mention the noun featured in each book. Third, the little mouse to be found on each page creates a game element for children. Fourth, the dramatically presented illustrations are lively and colorful.

My daughter loves feeling the different textures in the book. A very cute story where a baby/toddler can feel bunny paws, bunny tail, and other things.

Another in the series. Nothing new to write by this stage.

I inherited some of these books from a friend when my baby was born. She had enjoyed them with her son and thought I might like them for my daughter. At almost 10 months old my little girl is starting to more actively explore the world and it seems like the right time to introduce these lovely books with their textured insets to her.

This is a really sweet touch and feel book with many different textures. Someone's trying to find their bunny but they just don't seem to be coming across the right one, you will know you've found the right one when you find the one with soft ears. My one year old loves to touch all the different textures and then grab my finger and have me touch them all as well.

A bit of a disapointment after That's not my hedghog, but still reasonably enjoyable. Mostly looses points for one of the bunnies being intensely creepy; (spoiler) the one with the shiney dead eyes.

Get ready for some Easter fun with 'That's not my Bunny'! This adorable board book is perfect for little ones, with its tactile textures and playful descriptions that make each bunny unique. It's a great addition to any Easter basket, but don't worry, the fun doesn't stop there - you can enjoy it all year round! With its bright illustrations and interactive elements, 'That's not my Bunny' is sure to become a favorite for babies and toddlers everywhere. Similar to other books in the series, it features various textures for children to touch and feel. Encourage your child to explore the different textures on each page, such as soft fur or bumpy noses. As you read each page, encourage your child to interact with the book by feeling the textures and pointing out different features of the bunnies. Ask questions like, "Can you find the fluffy tail?" or "What color are the bunny's ears?" The repetitive text in the book ("That's not my bunny... its ears are too rough") is great for language development. Encourage your child to repeat the phrases with you, which helps with vocabulary and language comprehension. To enhance the reading experience, you can incorporate other sensory elements. For example, you could play soft background music to create a calming atmosphere or use a scented candle that smells like flowers or grass to evoke the feeling of being outdoors with the bunnies. After reading the book, you can extend the learning by exploring more about bunnies. You could watch videos of bunnies hopping around, learn about their habitats and behaviors, or even visit a local petting zoo or rabbit sanctuary to see real bunnies up close. And if you are lucky enough - you might even spot Easter bunny around 😉

I came to this one after sharing "That's Not My Elephant" with the toddler. Unfortunately, the touch and feel concept seems to have fun out of steam with this book, since ecerything about the rabbit seems to be fluffy, wooly or fuzzy, and there just aren't enough parts of the animal to make a whole book - even a very short one. The toddler lost interest, as did I.
There's a reason that the elephant is used in the old folk-tale. It is a beast of many parts, with many different shapes and textures. Skip this book and get the original.

This is one of my son's absolute favorite books. As the touch and feel type books go this series has more depth to it and a bit of a plot which makes it more interesting to me as the parent to read versus some similar books that are more just descriptive of the random object on each page. Since day one of reading this book, I have used my mediocre British accent and now I cannot stop. Our favorite page in this book is the fuzzy nose - I swear it is made out of the same material as a floaty pool noodle.

The series was an exciting find at the beginning of our search for touch and feel type books; now, however, every book is the same - including repetition of textures! Are there really only five textures in the entire world?! I am sick and tired of this series now but my three y.o. can't get enough of them and they occupy her hands while I am tied up, so there is some benefit still left to them.

We’re entering the sweet spot for touch-and-feel texts and Oscar is appropriately intrigued by bunnies so this is in heavy rotation right now. Knocking it down a star for encouraging eye touching (so shiny!) but I bet the intended audience isn’t trying to teach gentle interactions with an actual rabbit.

Allie loves this book. Just shy of 8 months, she figured out right away that the pages are far more interesting than other books. I agree that one of the bunnies is a little creepy, but that doesn't seem to bug her. She just loves "reading" this over and over and over again.

These Usborne touchy feely books are cute for toddlers. I rated all of them 2 stars because they are formulaic and frankly, I’m tired of reading them. However, my 4 year old likes “reading them” by herself.

I purchased this book when I had my first daughter. I now have 4 daughters. I can’t tell you how many times we have read this book but it’s a ton! They all love it and enjoy feeling all of the textures and looking for the little mouse on each page. Recommend for your toddlers.

LOVE the That's Not My... series! They really engage my little reader - he is too young to read or understand the words to it, but loves exploring the book and its tactile features!
