Appalling customer service from reception staff
I feel bad for leaving this review after we had a lovely stay. However the after care is terrible. I unfortunately left a valuable item behind in the rush of departure of a family that consists of 7 members with children. I realised my error in the airport and I immediately called reception to confirm that the item is still on the table by the balcony door however my desperation was received with nonchalance by the lady at the reception being suggested to send an email with all the details; whitch I did straight away. I called back after to see if they have checked with housekeeping and they said they haven’t and that I’ll get an answer by email. They use Walkies talkies with their maintanance and waiting staff so these could’ve taken minutes. I would’ve grabbed a taxi myself and went back for it if it wasn’t for the shuttle that took 1h45min to get to the airport , a journey that was meant to be 25min- because they had to wait on guests at another hotel. I embarked on a 10h flight and as soon as I touched down I called them again as I had No response by email . I received the same nonchalance at the other end, this time from a gentleman saying that someone will get back to me tomorrow since now it was during the night shift. There was no update if they checked with housekeeping or if something was flagged on their files. This time again, no checking any further or even an attempt to check with lost property. After 3 days of chase from my side, no less than 16 costly calls and 5 emails, I still have no update. When I called today they still didn’t look into it. It’s unbelievable how little it would’ve taken for them just to make the matters right from the very beginning. I understand that working in hospitality is not easy as I worked in the sector as well however their service was 0 to non existent. This is highly upsetting as I am adamant even on the location where I left my item and now I have little fate in recovering a nearly £400 item. It was in plain sight therefore no searching for it involved. Riu Cancun, you should definitely invest in customer service training with your reception staff as after care should be part of their job description. It is highly disappointing to be left feeling like this after a holiday all my family worked really hard to afford. I acknowledge that it was my error to start with however as I previously mentioned, a trace of customer service and care would’ve sorted this within maximum 30min.

Hotel’s beach is PUBLIC!
Unfortunately my last trip to Riu Cancun was terrible!Food,drinks, are good, restaurants and bars stuff are really hospitable, but my first disappointment was reception desk staff.In my room A/C was in malfunctioning and I called front desk to send someone to fix the problem, but nobody showed up.I came down and spoke with the receptionist and they said somebody will be there in a couple minutes, but the same, nobody showed up.Accidentally I met maintenance guy on the floor and asked him to come in my room to check it out A/C he did it but told me he can only set up temperature on 24 degrees and tomorrow sometime will be here to fix the problem. Off course, nobody showed up.So, for three days I had no A/C possibility to adjust temperature.But,the deeply disappointing was that nobody told me that hotel’s beach is a PUBLIC !? In the afternoon lots of people occupied the beach bringing the food and even alcoholic drinks with glass bottles.Normally,I complained about it to the hotel’s manager and she told me that all hotel’s beach in Mexico are public .I complained to the Expedia to get fully refund for my trip but I never got back from them.Terrible. It was the worst experience ever.

Had a really good experience. The room was great and very clean. Staff very helpful and attentive. Great entertainment every evening. Food was very good. Only downside was that you could not book the restaurants for a specific time, it was first come basis. So we are mostly at the buffet indoor restaurant. The buffet was fantastic.

Everything about this hotel is spectacular from the food to the service I would highly recommend staying here the beach is literally on the doorstep and you have access to a brilliant nightlife and shopping centre.The staff are friendly and helpful and the entertainment is Amazing.

RIU Cancun All Inclusive
My stay at RIU Cancun was very nice. Accommodations were good and clean. Customer service was great. Food was decent. Could use more variety at the restaurants. Entertainment could use some improvement. Very disappointed that the beach didn’t have umbrellas!
