RV Meal Timesavers For me, meal time can be a little stressful. I enjoy cooking when I’m plugged into power in a campground, but on the go I can slip into the habit of eating out if I don’t do a little planning and incorporate a few meal timesavers. The Road To Adventure | Jul 7, 2017
Calm The Clutter: RV Storage Solutions And Organization The majority of RV interiors have been designed with organization in mind. There are usually ample cabinets, dressers and compartments under the furniture. Not to mention the storage bays accessed from the outside of the RV. Even with all the space, a little extra organization can go a long way. Jenn and Brent | Sep 10, 2015

Chef Susie Jimenez
Chef Susie Jimenez
As a private chef, my husband Doug (an avid bowhunter) and I love the flexibility we have to hit the open road, enjoy the weather, and explore great American destinations with our three dogs in our RV. From my experience, packing right and being well prepared cuts down on shopping while on the road, which allows us to fully enjoy each destination.

Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of HI-CHEW™, the results showed that seven in 10 (71%) agree that road trips give them a hall pass to eat as many snacks as they'd like. Respondents are grabbing chips (47%), cookies (44%) and candy (42%) in addition to traveling with friends (39%), kids (33%) and pets (30%).
Packing simple homemade snacks like hard-boiled eggs, homemade popcorn bags, healthy trail mix and chopped fruits and veggies will save you money and help keep everyone feeling good. If you're planning roadtrip food, pack some homemade meals and plan a grocery store stop, rather than takeout, for quick on-the-go meals.
“On average, it costs about $4 per person per meal when doing the cooking yourself.” By using this cost estimate, you can get ahead on planning by multiplying $4 by the number of times a day you will be making meals at home, and multiplying that number by the number of days the trip will be.
Fish is the healthiest option though.Go for steamed, sauteed or grilled veggies in place of veggies with creamy gravies which are high in calories and fats. If you eat out thrice a week then take some juice once, second time go for some healthy soup and if at all required then take alcohol.
Keep meat and poultry separate from foods that will be eaten raw. Use a separate cooler or place them in a leak proof container or bag. A full cooler will stay colder longer than one partially filled. Use the right size cooler to meet your needs.
Even if you don't think you'll need them, bring them -- you never know when you'll get stuck in a traffic jam. Snack bars, trail mix, dry cereal, pretzels, half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich are good options that don't require refrigeration.
If you find real fruit a bit too difficult and too juicy to eat while in the car, dried fruit is your next best option! Apple chips, banana chips, and dried cranberries are all great options you can easily grab from the grocery store before you leave.
