I love nothing more than good breakfast food. BreakfastBreakfast truly is my favorite meal of the day and I savor every moment of it. I absolutely insist that we go out for breakfast every Sunday morning. We take our time, connect and enjoy being a family. We try all different sorts of places plus have some of our favorites as well. We hope that you love this Maple Sausage Frittata Recipe as it one of our favorite make ahead breakfast casseroles.
I have been experimenting with all sorts of different textures and flavors for breakfast as well. Blueberry Crunch Cakes, anyone? I cannot even share the fabulous breakfast I had with you this morning because I am going to recreate it this week. My husband is a frittata lover. I had no idea what they were until after I met him. I am now a frittata lover as well. You can take so many liberties with ingredients and come up with so many variations. Here is one for you.
Maple Sausage Frittata Recipe
Ingredients
- 6 large cage-free eggs
- ½ cup water (this is a great way to cut down on fat vs using heavy cream)
- 7-8 precooked, all natural maple sausage links
- 2 cups of cubed multi grain bread
- ½ onion chopped
- 1 small crown of organic broccoli and slices from the peeled stock
- ¼ to ¾ cup of a shape cheese, we used an Irish cheddar
- 2-4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil or butter
- season to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 385 degrees after sautéing the onions in your omelette pan.
- Whisk together the eggs and water in a mixing bowl and set aside.
- Using a bit of olive oil and a large pan, sauté the onions, broccoli stock, cut sausage links (into rounds).
- When the onions are cooked through, preheat the oven and toss in the bread cubes. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then sprinkle the cheese on top and pour the eggs over.
- Reduce the heat to medium low, cover and cook for 4-5 minutes then place in the oven for about 25 to 35 minutes. The cook time will vary depending on the size of your dish and how hot your oven runs.
- You’ll know it is done when it puffs up across the entire top and starts to show signs of light browning on the top. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
The frittata will deflate almost right after coming out of the oven-don’t worry about that, it’s going to be fantastic! We hope that you are inspired by this Maple Sausage Frittata Recipe. Happy cooking!
