Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (2024)

Hello and welcome to the walkthrough of Yakuza Kiwami.

This walkthrough is consistent with all versions of the game, so whether you're playing on Xbox, PC, Playstation, the content is the same and nothing changes. I tried to keep this guide mostly spoiler free for you to check it out without being afraid of spoiling yourself the game, but be aware that there are going to be at least some minor spoilers here and there along with some memes. The story part of the walkthrough doesn't talk about what's in the cutscenes or who, it only tells you specifically where to go and what to do.

I. INTRO & DISCLAIMER

I will start this walkthrough off by saying that if you are new to the Yakuza series, and you're interested in starting the franchise with this game, I highly recommend you play Yakuza 0 first. This comes for a series of reasons, which will come advantageous to you if you'll decide to stick with the game and completing the whole series:

  • You'll be familiar with the minigames right from the start. The Yakuza series is known for its number of minigames, some of them are difficult (Mahjong, Catfight, Batting) while others can be more enjoyable to play (Karaoke, Disco, Clubs etc.).
  • Yakuza 0 has the funniest substories and a lot of memorable moments and memes in it. In the game we have the youngest version of Kazuma Kiryu (the protagonist), who is still pretty naive and "innocent". If you play it as your first game in the series you're probably going to get attached to the franchise more easily.
  • You'll get a better understanding of the story. Yakuza 0 wasn't released before the others, but only after, so it serves as a prequel. The devs made the game exactly for us to understand better the story by playing it before the others. In fact, you should play the Yakuza series not in the order of release but rather in the order of story to get a better understanding, which means playing the games in this order: Yakuza 0 - Yakuza Kiwami - Yakuza Kiwami 2 - Yakuza 3 Remastered - Yakuza 4 Remastered - Yakuza 5 Remastered - Yakuza 6.

This game has 0 missable achievements and content. That means you can easily play the story first, without worrying much about missing stuff and having to replay it again, and then complete the rest after. Once you complete the ending/epilogue of the game, a new mode is unlocked, which is called "Premium Adventure". This allows us to free-roam the map, giving us the chance to complete everything we have left to do in our Completion List.

I will list the content in the next pages in the same order I did them. So, after the story's walkthrough, I suggest you complete the minigames in the same order I wrote them in order to achieve a faster completion (and less roaming around).

The game requires two playthroughs. The first one can be in whichever difficulty you want (there are 3 difficulties at first - I suggest playing in HARD, difficulty is balanced incredibly well in the Yakuza series, enemies are pretty fair and well thought out), after your complete the story for the first time you'll unlock Legendary difficulty. Basically the only difference is that enemies are a bit more enraged and will throw out punches more frequently - that's it. Although I always suggest to 100% the game first and then go for a replay for the last achievement of the 2nd playthrough only at the end.

Fighting in this game isn't that difficult, combos are pretty easy to remember (Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (1)Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (2)Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (3)Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (4)Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (5), Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (6)Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (7)Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (8)Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (9), Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (10)Guide for Yakuza Kiwami - Walkthrough overview (11) and so on, nothing really THAT hard) and most of the new ones you learn will be explained to you as you play. Imo, the hardest thing to complete in this game as for content are the Climax Battles. I suggest you look them up on youtube before you decide to go for 100% because they can and WILL be devastating, especially in the beginning. They're not as hard as they were in Yakuza 0 but they still are atrocious (I hope they won't be for you, but for me... oh boy if they were).
